Every year on July 11, there is a celebration known as World Population Day that aims to increase public awareness of concerns related to the world population. The United Nations Development Program’s Governing Council founded the event in 1989. It was motivated by curiosity in Five Billion Day, which took place on July 11, 1987, roughly the day the world’s population surpassed five billion. The goal of World Population Day is to raise public awareness of a range of population-related issues, including the value of family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health, and human rights.
